Frequently Asked Questions
How does BridgeTek test for safety and performance?
BridgeTek’s Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) covers 11 items for battery safety test and 8 items for battery performance. Although each product is different, before any product leaves the factory, we have put it through it’s paces. In the case of the container type MW-class, we add an additional set testing measures in addition to the above.
Testing at customer sites seems essential to improve safety and performance. What are the integrated tests of battery, PCS, and EMS running at customer sites?
BridgeTek’s Site Acceptance Test (SAT) includes more than 12 individual and integrated system tests once the system in commissioned on-site. FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) are sometimes repeated depending on the scenario.
What does BridgeTek do for customers to maintain product performance on-site?
BridgeTek regularly conducts operational tests on stationary Energy Storage Systems (ESS) such as residential, C&I (commercial & industrial), and MW-Class systems. Theses tests can be accomplished in-person or via Remote Monitoring System (RMS). If abnormalities are detected, we send a technician to the site to conduct electrical, mechanical, and auxiliary equipment tests to diagnose issues and make appropriate system updates.
What is the main role of C&I (Commercial & Industrial) ESS?
The main purpose of C&I application is to reduce the customer's electricity bill. ESS can save customers' demand charge (KW) and energy bill (KWh) with our without a paired solar system. Due to the recent sharp rise in electricity rates, the extension of subsidies for PV and ESS, and the drop in ESS prices, the payback period is drastically shortening.
It’s wroth noting that since BridgeTek’s ESS responds quickly, the system can be set up to prevent business losses due to power disturbances. The following shows how large the damage scale of power disturbance is.
Power quality related problems have caused over US$188 billion/year in the US. The EU faces similar conclusions where the losses caused by poor power quality have resulted in a whopping €150 billion. Voltage dips or short interruptions account for most of the problem accounting for approximately 60% of the overall cost to the industry.
For example, a quick case study of a 0.07 second power interruption at Toshiba factory (Japan) in 2010 reveals a chip shipment loss of 20%, accounting for $130,000,000 of losses.
BridgeTek’s ESS system’s can reduce your monthly electricity bill and prevent business interruptions.
What is the response time of BridgeTek’s ESS for power quality?
BridgeTek’s systems can respond within 4ms, or longer based on customer needs.
What role does MW-Class ESS play in Micro-grid?
ESS performs ramp rate control and frequency regulation to stabilize the rapidly fluctuating output of renewable energy. It can also store surplus Solar PV.
BridgeTek’s ESS is characterized by high power, fast response, and accuracy, which are the core technologies required for grid stabilization. In addition, the high-output system design enables the system to operate stably even during extended duration load leveling
What communication protocols can BridgeTek support for communication with Network Operations Centers?
BridgeTek can support IEC61850, 60870, and DNP3.0 communication protocols.
What are the characteristics of BridgeTek’s battery pack?
BridgeTek's battery pack is optimized for e-mobility applications as well as off-grid systems such as solar PV street LED lighting.
Our battery pack has a built-in cell balancing function to maximize the battery capacity and minimized self-power consumption.
Our battery packs are also equipped with a self-protection function. This function is activated when any cell of the battery pack falls below a voltage threshold. When this happens the PCM power is automatically turned off to protect the battery pack and maintain its performance.
These signals can be remotely monitored from a central operation center.
Does BridgeTek offer a warranty?
Warranty terms may vary from product to product and application to application. In general, we offer a five year warranty on our battery packs for e-mobility, and 10 year warranty for stationary ESS. Warranties may be extended upon agreement with the customer.
